Chair Yoga is a wonderful alternative to traditional yoga. Traditional yoga is done seated on the floor, on hands and knees, standing, and on the belly. Chair Yoga is for those who have difficulty transitioning to and from the floor.
Chair Yoga allows students to practice traditional yoga poses seated in a chair and standing, using the chair for support. The class begins slowly seated in the chair. Once we’ve stretched and warmed the body, we will stand and enjoy standing yoga postures. We finish the class seated again, and will end with resting for a few moments.
Students will receive the same benefits of a traditional yoga class. These include increased strength, flexibility, muscle tone, better balance, improved breathing, joint health and stress relief.
I first began practicing yoga in 1999 and I love that yoga offers me and want to share my experiences. I have been a yoga instructor since 2006, with over 2500 hours of teaching experience. My focus is senior yoga and I have been teaching Chair Yoga since 2011. I have advanced training in flexibility, strength, and balance for continued independent living. My goal is to provide students with a more balanced and peaceful life.
I am a current member of the National Organization Yoga Alliance with the Following designations: Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Experienced Teacher and 500 Hour Advanced Designation.
